Neil Hamilton urges constituents to join Autumn Clean Cymru campaign

NEIL Hamilton, MS for Mid & West Wales, and Leader of UKIP Wales is urging his constituents to get involved in a major clean-up campaign this month.

Mr Hamilton,  is backing charity, Keep Wales Tidy Autumn Clean Cymru, who are calling for volunteers to help clear up the streets, parks or beaches on their doorstep from September 11 – 27.

“I hope anyone, who is able, will get involved and volunteer for this annual campaign postponed from March because of the coronavirus lockdown.

“Not only will you be helping to clean up beaches but also our streets and parks. Litter is always a problem on the coast and in the countryside so we need to work together to improve this situation.

“Apart from keeping beaches clean for people and tourists, some of our best-loved marine wildlife is under threat from the waste and litter in our seas. Hundreds of species are accidentally eating or becoming entangled in rubbish, in particular plastic.

“I am delighted to back this initiative which always attracts hundreds of people all over Wales, and would urge anyone who wants to take part to get in touch with the charity.

“Keep Wales Tidy does a splendid job in spearheading the campaign to keep our country litter-free, from helping to improve the local environment to making sure that we have award-winning blue flag beaches.”

This year Autumn Clean Cymru will be a bit different from the usual clean-up campaigns. To make sure everyone stays safe and well, individuals and households are being encouraged to clean up the streets, parks or beaches on their doorstep.

It is part of the Great British September Clean which will be happening across the UK at the same time.

It seems that, more than ever, people are recognising just how important a clean and safe environment is to their health and well-being. There has also been a real sense of frustration at the increase in litter since restrictions eased.

 Autumn Clean Cymru is a chance for us all to take a stand and declare that litter is not acceptable.
