EIGHT Pembrokeshire Sports Clubs are to share more than £8,400 after successful applications to a new fund set up following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cleddau Reach Archers, Elements Gymnastics Academy, Llanrhian Cricket Club, Milford Athletic AFC, Monkton Swifts Football Club, Neyland Rowing Club, Saundersfoot Bowling Club and S.Pembrokeshire Weightlifting Club were the successful clubs.
They all gained support from the new Be Active Wales fund administered by Sport Wales.
The Be Active Wales Fund is available to not-for-profit sports clubs and organisations delivering community sport and physical activity.
The successful applications totalled £8,471 and the fund remains open for applications.
The two types of grant available are known as Protect and Prepare: protect your club and prepare to re-start activities safely.
Protect
Grants of between £300 and £5,000 are available to protect clubs and community organisations that are at immediate financial risk and need support to cover costs such as rent, utility costs, insurances and facility or equipment hire (where there is a fixed cost).
Prepare
Grants of between £300 and £50,000 are available to help prepare clubs and community organisations or groups to restart, respond to, or grow participation, in direct response to Covid-19. Eligible costs include:
Re-opening facilities safely so that people can take part;
Resources that help the club or organisation meet Government and public health guidance on social distancing;
Initiatives that give people the confidence to take part and encourage members or participants to return to the club or organisation;
Initiatives that encourage more people to take part;
Capital works, such as improvements, adaptations, safety measures or innovations needed to buildings or facilities before people can take part;
Innovative solutions to get people active, such as the use of technology; and
Starting new clubs, teams or organisations that want to set-up, but need help to follow Covid-19 guidelines.
Clubs and organisations considering applying can contact Sport Pembrokeshire for support and assistance or Email sport@pembrokeshire.gov.uk for more details.
There are no application deadlines and applications will be assessed on a rolling basis.
