PEMBROKESHIRE County Council has appointed a contractor to take on the construction of a learning centre planned for Ysgol Harri Tudur.
A former science block at the secondary school in Pembroke will be brought back into use as a community learning hub with work carried out by John Weaver (Contractors) Limited, according to a delegated decision report published by the council.
The site requires remodelling and will include multi-use classrooms, toilets and dining facilities.
Cabinet member for education and lifelong learning, Cllr Guy Woodham, was consulted on the decision taken by the director of resources, Jon Haswell.
The value of the contract was classed as exempt commercial information and not included with the decision report.
In April 2019 Welsh Government announced £15million of grant funding for 21 community hubs and learning centres across Wales, including a share for the refurbishment of the old Pembroke School science block to create a vocational curriculum centre.
