A ‘professional and compassionate’ Haverfordwest police officer has been awarded the title of Newcomer of the Year at the Dyfed-Powys Police annual awards.

Emily Silvester, who has been a police constable for less than two years, has been described as competent ‘beyond her years of service’. She was put forward for the award by a group of her colleagues.

PC Daniel Richards said: “Emily carries out the role as if she has been a police officer for many years. She is cool, calm and collected and nothing seems to phase her. Since passing her tutorship, Emily has gone from strength to strength. She is a valued member of our team.”

Sergeant Antonia Trueman continued: “It is difficult to highlight one particular time Emily was outstanding – she is a consistently hardworking, professional and compassionate police officer.

“She is a role model to everyone around her. You would never know how new to the job she is because she carries out her role with competence beyond her years of service.”

The Newcomer of the Year award recognises individuals who are new to the organisation and already showing outstanding commitment to their professional development, delivering an excellent service, or having a significant and positive impact on their area of work.

PC Eve Rees added: “Emily embodies the values of Dyfed-Powys Police. She is a committed and valued member of the team who demonstrates a high level of professionalism when dealing with the public and her colleagues. She is hardworking, popular, and an inspiration to others. Emily is a pleasure to work with.”
