THE search is on to find Carmarthenshire’s sporting stars of 2019.

Nominations are open for the annual Actif Carmarthenshire Sports Awards.

Winners of the twelve categories including Young Sportsman and Sportswoman will be announced in a glitzy ceremony at the Ffwrnes Theatre in Llanelli on Friday,  January 31

Categories include Sports Personality, Young Sportsman and Sportswoman, Disabled Sportsperson, Sports Coach, Sports Volunteer, Young Volunteer, Team of the year, Young Team of the year, Community Sport Coach and High Performance Coach, Outstanding Services to Sport and Sporting Hall of Fame.

The awards in its 21st year are organised by Carmarthenshire Council’s Actif sports and leisure team and recognise the sporting success of athletes, coaches and volunteers across Carmarthenshire.

Last year’s disabled sports award winner, Luke Jones, clinched this year’s British Series in cycling (road racing).

Executive board member for culture, sport and tourism, Cllr Peter Hughes-Griffiths said: “Carmarthenshire continues to produce a wealth of sporting talent year on year and these awards provide us with an opportunity to show our support and congratulate them. Many of these sporting stars and unsung heroes help keep their clubs thriving.”

The closing date for nominations is Friday, November 1. Forms are available on our website   https://www.actif.wales/nominations/

Shortlisting will be announced on Nov 15.
