NSPCC Cymru/Wales trustee is awarded CBE in New Year Honours 2022 list

It has been announced that Albert Heaney, trustee for NSPCC Cymru/Wales, has been awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours list for 2022.

A Senior Civil Servant for Wales, Mr Heaney is being honoured for his dedication and commitment to social care. He joined the NSPCC in June with a wealth of experience in safeguarding, leadership, and governance. He is the Chief Social Care Officer for Wales and previously worked for the NSPCC, as well as working as a therapeutic social worker within a health setting in CAMHS. As a member of the England and Wales Family Justice Board, he has made a significant contribution to improving the family justice network in Wales.

He is one of 18 trustees from across the UK on the Board of Trustees, which is responsible for the overall control and direction of the NSPCC.

Speaking about his honour, Mr Heaney said: “I am deeply honoured to receive a CBE in the New Year honours list for services to Social Care. For me this is very much a shared recognition of the invaluable work of all our social workers and social care professionals who provide care and support to children, young people and adults.”

Neil Berkett, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said: “Albert has made a huge contribution in his first year as Trustee for Wales. His Social Care background combined with his approach of keeping children and young people as a focus in all he does makes him an invaluable Trustee.”
