Ospreys star Dan Evans to start Trap Fun Run

THE countdown is on for the 32nd Trap Show Charity Fun Run on Sunday May 12th, commencing from the Cennen Arms, Trap at 11.00a.m. For the third year running,

Ospreys full back, Dan Evans will start the event which has become one of the most popular dates on Carmarthenshire’s sporting calendar, regularly attracting runners from all over South and West Wales, including over the years, names of note such as Welsh, British and Commonwealth athletes such as course record holder, Dewi Griffiths, Llanfynydd Andres Jones of Aberaeron, Steve Brace, Bridgend and Josh Griffiths of Swansea Harriers.

The event will be generously sponsored by local firms, Brecon Carreg, Gelli Plant, SJ Griffiths and Son, Morgan Marine Ltd and Hughes Decorators with generous prizes in all categories plus a T shirt for all finishers. In addition, Dyffryn Cennen Community Council will present each child taking part with a medal, and this year, with such strong support, along with the enthusiasm, and committed team work which goes into the organisation beforehand on the day, it looks set to be another successful event

The Run consists of 2 routes: the Open race of 4.7miles and the 2.8 mile route for the Junior Race and Walkers.

Last year’s event, together with the Show’s Lucky No Draw and the May Bank Holiday Showjumping Day held at Beacons Equestrian raised a total of £1,550.00 towards Wales Cancer Research.

This year, half the proceeds will be shared between Guide Dogs and Talking Books Wales with the other half towards Trap Show. on the last Saturday of July, so dig out your running shoes, dust away those winter cobwebs and come and join in the fun whilst raising money for these worthwhile causes.

Whether seasoned club runners or occasional fun runners, from the youngest to the oldest participant, you are sure to enjoy the fun and camaraderie which has been the essence of more than 30 years of success for this annual event. Young runners may be accompanied by an adult, whilst many re-cycled teenagers opt for a leisurely walk.

Regardless of the choice of pace, all participants can be assured of a rewarding enjoyable day set in a scenic location and a notably warm and friendly atmosphere.
