Pavillioneers petition against pier development plans

Dear Editor,

Rebuild Llandudno’s Original Pier Pavilion to Preserve the Piers Future is a Facebook group that opposes the planned executive apartment’s development on the site of Llandudno’s Pier Pavilion, which was destroyed by fire nearly 30 years ago.

The development would see a 10 storey block of 54 flats erected on the site of the former two storey high Pier Pavilion, with limited street access and inadequate parking.

The development will be built in an area of natural beauty at the entrance to Llandudno’s Grade 2 listed Pier. The Piers owner Mr Williams has gone on record as saying this development could close the Pier for good. It also blocks out the views of many long standing hotels at the foot of the happy valley of the Great Orme and dwarfs the famous Grand Hotel.

The developer Mr Waldron has recently put the unbuilt development up for auction as a going concern, even though 8 call-in requests are awaiting adjudication by Julie James MS Welsh Government Minister for Climate Change.

As a group, only four weeks old, we have 1600+ online petition signatures and over 1000 hard copy signatures and we will demonstrate against the development on Llandudno North Shore, on Sunday, 7th Novembet 2021 from 13.00 hours.

Kind regards,

Dave Jones,
The Pavilioneers,
