Planning appeal against Pembrokeshire National Park enforcement dismissed

AN appeal against enforcement action to stop overnight camping at a north Pembrokeshire beauty spot was dismissed by the Planning Inspectorate.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s development management were told in June that its decision to start enforcement action against the change of use of land at Abereiddy beach car park for a booking ticket office and overnight camping could be continued.

The appeal by Man Up UK, which also runs the car park under licence, was made last year following an enforcement notice made in August 2018.

The use of the land for a water sports and activity booking office and charges for overnight parking and camping is not permitted.

The argument hat the £10 a night parking charge was to dissuade overnight camping or parking was not accepted by the  planning inspector, Janine Townsley , who said she understood the Park’s concern charging “gives the impression that it is permitted and thereby legitimises it.”
