Planning permission granted for gas pressure reduction station near Cardigan

A GAS pressure reducing station is to be installed on farmland near Cardigan following Ceredigion County Council planning approval last month.

Planning officers approved Wales and West Utilities application for gas pressure reducing station with 2.4 metre palisade security fence including three glass reinforced plastic kiosks, hardstanding, retaining wall and access gate and emergency exit gate.

The sire is a field off the access track leading to Parc yr Eithin Farm, to the south of St Dogmaels Road, and is considered a relatively open location by planning officers.

A planning report states that the station is required to “reduce gas pressure from transmission levels to distribution levels” to supply nearby homes.

“This will ensure the safe and efficient supply of gas to the residents of Cardigan,” it adds.

An existing nearby station is no longer considered fit for purpose and cannot be upgraded or replaced in situ.

Permission for the full planning application was granted subject to conditions including ensuring surface water run off is trapped and disposed of onsite, lighting specifications and ensuring a near by Public Right of Way remains open unless an additional application is made.
