IT’S been on a pond near Lawrenny since 2017 and now its been made official with retrospective planning granted for a wooden ‘floating houseboat’.
The floating holiday unit with a kitchen/living area, one bedroom and bathroom along with an external deck area is chained to a wooden pontoon on a pond at Little Pencoed Farm.
Advertised on glamping sites as Dragonfly Camping, the houseboat also has a shepherd’s hut nearby as well as standard camping facilities in use on the 300 acre organic dairy farm.
A report to the committee on December 10 adds that the diversification of the farm and the unit “offers a unique form of holiday accommodation that would support both tourism within the County and the farm business through additional income.”
The application was approved subject to a section 106 legal agreement preventing the separation of the houseboat from the agricultural unit and it must be for holiday occupancy only.
