Police act on intelligence to stop illegal raves

DYFED-Powys Police has stepped up efforts to stop illegal raves.

In a statement the force said: “Our effort to crack down on illegal raves continues this weekend, in response to intelligence that suggests an event is planned on our patch.

“These types of gatherings cause anxiety in communities, leave countryside trashed, and bring serious safety risks.

“One of the big issues we see is people driving while they’re unfit through drink, drugs and tiredness – which all increase the risk of crashing.

“Inspector for Specialist Operations, Dom Jones, said: “We’re upping patrols this weekend to stop any illegal events setting up in our area.

“There’ll be a more officers in rural areas and on the main routes in to our patch, in direct response to the intelligence picture.

“People will say it’s a waste of resources, but we see first-hand the dangers that come with these gatherings and will take swift action against anyone suspected to be involved, to keep our communities safe.”

“We’re also asking people who live rurally, including farmers and landowners, to know the signs and report information to us by calling 101:”

  • Large amount of camper vans
  • Trespassers scoping out sites
  • Approaches to hire land
