South Wales Police is appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision which happened at around 5.55pm yesterday Monday (Mar 9) on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 motorway at Bridgend.
The collision involved a white Toyota RAV 4, which was travelling between junction 36 towards junction 35, when for reasons not yet established the vehicle has left the carriageway to the nearside, colliding with trees.
The driver of the Toyota, a 39 year old male from the Cardiff area was taken to the University Hospital of Wales where his condition remains critical.
The eastbound carriageway was closed for about six hours for investigative work to be undertaken and the recovery of the vehicle. Motorists are thanked for their patience and understanding while the road closure was in place.
