Popular Swansea seafront attraction reopens

BLACKPILL Lido had been temporarily closed to the public due to the pandemic for months, now Swansea Council has carefully reopened the facility in line with latest government guidelines.

It is a beachside outdoor paddling pool, children’s play area, climbing rock and picnic facility and attractions nearby include the award-winning Clyne Gardens and Swansea FootGolf.

The lido’s pool has been refilled with chlorinated water and the fountains and features will operate daily 9 am-5 pm until September 13 unless otherwise publicised.

Outdoor leisure assistants from the council will be on duty during operational hours. They will undertake regular spot cleaning of hard surfaces and routine water quality tests.

The lido reopens with banners and posters reminding visitors of safety guidelines and the public toilets on site are open in a restricted capacity.

It remains important for children aged over 10 and adults continue to follow social distancing and other measures to keep them safe.

However, the Welsh Government has relaxed the position on under-11s having to maintain a two-metre distance from each other or from adults.

Robert Francis-Davies, the council’s cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said:

“We thank the public for their understanding during the time the lido has been closed.

“We continued to undertake regular checks and maintenance on the facility to ensure that it remained in good condition.

“It has now reopened – and we ask the public to enjoy it responsibly and be considerate with any staff on duty. Coronavirus is still with us and we should do nothing to lead us into a local lockdown.”
