Public consultation on locking arrangements for three Cardiff parks

CARDIFF Council Parks Department is currently undertaking an assessment of Roath Park, Roath Pleasure Gardens and Parc Cefn Onn and have launched a Park Locking Arrangements Consultation for people to have their say.

The survey will be open until April 18 and paper copies of the survey are available on request by calling 02920 130 061.

Prior to the pandemic, these parks would be unlocked each morning from7.30am with locking commencing 30 minutes before sunset. In the winter, this resulted in the park closing from 3.30pm.

A Cardiff Council spokesperson said:

“During the pandemic, the locking of these parks was suspended to allow access over a longer time period, helping to support physical and mental well-being.

“As we emerge from the pandemic, we are keen to hear from you on whether the parks and Gardens should remain unlocked or revert to locking arrangements.

“This short survey will help identify what time of the day or night you use the parks and gardens, and what for what purpose, such as dog walking, exercise, as part of a community group, health and well-being purposes, or something else.”

“This will help the team to identify any future park locking arrangements and ensure that the parks can continue to be enjoyed safely by everyone.”
