THE council has announced how services in Rhondda Cynon Taf will be affected by the bank holiday for The Queen’s funeral.

On Monday, September 19, the council will be closed and this applies to all major services apart from out-of-hours emergencies.

People can still access on-line services during this period but requests may not be processed until offices re-open on Tuesday, September 20.

There will be no collections on Monday, September 19.

For residents whose collection was scheduled to take place on Monday, they are asked to leave items at their normal collection point on Tuesday,  September 20 and this applies to all recycling, including nappies, food and green waste.

Apart from on Monday, residents are being advised to place their recycling and waste out on their normal collection time and day.

The council said the crews will endeavour to minimise disruption as much as possible but if items are not collected on the normal collection day, residents should leave them at the kerbside and crews will get to them as soon as possible.

If needed the crews will also be working over the weekend to collect any outstanding recycling and waste.

All community recycling centres and The Shed, Re-use facilities are closed on Monday, September 19 and will re-open on Tuesday, September 20.

The meals on wheels team will support people during this period and a menu has been provided to all clients to pre-order a frozen meal for Monday where needed, the council said.

Information and advice on homelessness can be found on the homelessness page of the council website and an out of hours emergency service is also available throughout this period by calling 01443 425011.

The Register Office, Municipal Buildings, Pontypridd will be closed on Monday and normal service will resume on Tuesday.

Anyone with existing bookings for Monday will be contacted individually to discuss the options available.

The main office for cemeteries and bereavement services at Glyntaff will be closed on Monday and normal service will resume on Tuesday.

There are currently no changes in place for cemetery grounds during this period.

The council said there are sometimes exceptional circumstances when it has to close the cemeteries to vehicles at short notice.

If it is necessary to close a cemetery to vehicles, a notice is placed on the cemetery gates advising the public. As soon as it is safe to do so the cemetery gates are opened to vehicles.

The cemeteries can be accessed by pedestrians when closed to vehicles but the council would urge people to exercise caution when visiting cemeteries in adverse weather and to ensure they wear appropriate clothing and footwear to avoid falls and injury.

All leisure centres, libraries, theatres and public toilets will be closed on Monday and normal service will resume on Tuesday.

All parks across RCT will remain open as normal with toilets situated in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park open from 8:30 am – 7pm and toilets in Aberdare Park and Dare Valley Country Park also remaining open seven days a week from 9am until 4pm.

All Schools will be closed and school transport will be cancelled on Monday.

Residents can contact the council with an emergency issue on 01443 425011 during the bank holiday period and out of hours/inclement weather and this is open 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.
