Review process for auction of council farm called by Pembs councillor

A bid to see the process surrounding the sale of a county council farm near Solva examined will be discussed in the Autumn.

Following the second auction of Trecadwgan Farm for £757,000 Cllr Jamie Adams has called for a review of the entire process by services overview and scrutiny to “consider where lessons must be learned to ensure timely and appropriate action in which potential purchasers can have confidence.”

His Notice of Motion was brought to the first virtual meeting of the committee this month and it was decided to send it to the Autumn meeting for full consideration.

Cllr Adams adds: “This review must also consider the action of Officers and Members who have been involved to determine adherence to protocols of professional practice and appropriate democratic oversight.”

The farm was sold after months of negotiations, bidding, and counter-bidding which resulted in a community group wanting to save the farm losing out to a private buyer.

A report to committee notes that the motion has not been discussed within the normal time frame requirements due to the impact of Covid-19.
