Rhod urges you to nominate someone living with effects of stroke for awards

Dear Editor,

I am writing to you on behalf of a charity that is close to my heart – The Stroke Association.

These are incredibly testing times for all of us and I do hope your readers are staying safe and well. As most of us have a little more time on our hands these days, here is perhaps one way to brighten someone else’s day. Please consider nominating someone you know for a Life After Stroke Award.

I had my own stroke scare a few years ago. I did not know what was happening, it felt like ‘my brain was caught in a zip’ and when my arm began to shake uncontrollably, it was scary. I hadn’t thought much about stroke before and it did give me a fright, even though the doctors say everything is fine now. It’s important that people get to hospital straight away if they’re at all worried.

The awards are a fantastic annual event. They recognise the courageous achievements of people who are living with the effects of stroke. I’m writing to urge your readers to nominate someone they know who has gone on to rebuild their life after stroke. This might be a stroke survivor, their loved ones who care for them or communities and organisations who help people rebuild their lives after stroke.

Just go to www.stroke.org.uk/LASA
