THE Peter and Ann Setten Atlantic 85 lifeboat was launched at 2.20pm. On arrival at the scene the small inflatable, which had a 2HP outboard fitted and two people on board, was found on Warren beach, east of Llanbedrog headland.
The small vessel had departed from Pwllheli and was unable to make any headway on it’s return due to the wind strength, choppy sea state and moderate swell. The casualties, one adult male and one teenage male, were wearing wet suits and also carrying a mobile phone. No lifejackets were on board.
HM Coastguard mobile unit dealt with the casualties ashore.
Abersoch RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, Andy Vowell, said, ‘It is essential that you always check the weather conditions and tide times before heading out and ensure that your vessel is suitable for the conditions’. He also added that, ‘Lifejackets should be worn at all times’.
