YOUNG women in Pontyclun and the wider area are being invited to apply now for the chance to shadow a successful and high profile female leader at The Royal Mint.
The Royal Mint is working with gender equality charity – Chwarae Teg on its LeadHerShip Business scheme which aims to ensure women become better represented in senior private sector roles.
Women aged 18-25, with an interest in a future career in business, can apply for the opportunity which will give them a unique day to learn about entrepreneurship and an insight into how the business is run.
The successful candidate will gain first-hand experience from a member of the organisation’s executive team to discover what it really takes to lead a thriving organisation in Wales.
The Royal Mint is the world’s largest export mint – creating coins, medals, gifts and investment opportunities for the UK and overseas. There are over 900 people employed at its headquarters in Llantrisant, which operates round-the-clock for 52 weeks a year.

The need to encourage change is evident with women notably absent from leading business roles. They account for just 6% of the chief executives of the top 100 businesses in Wales. Research by the Women’s Business Council shows that the UK economy is missing out on more than 1.2 million new enterprises due to the untapped business potential of women.
