Sunflowers on Gower raise funds for Mumbles Lifeboat

THIS summer many people who managed to get out as local lockdown was lifted had the chance to enjoy the sunflowers at Rhosilli. The field was recently purchased by local man Rob Morgan. The field proved popular and help raise thousands of pounds for the National Trust as visitors used their car park. The profit from the entry fee and sea food hut was shared between local charities including the RNLI.

Rob said ‘I’m a keen sea angler and spend a lot of time on the coast. This year I got to spend a lot of time on the Dee estuary and saw the amazing work the volunteers do. It’s an honour to help out in any way I can.’

Lifeboat Coxswain Martin Double said ‘We as a charity have found 2020 almost impossible to fund raise in. We’re very grateful to Rob for his donation of £700 to the charity in these difficult times. This year has been one of the busiest for our volunteer crews but we need more donations. One way we’re fundraising this year is with a virtual fish supper.

We’re asking families and friends to meet online, enjoy a fish supper via Zoom or FaceTime, share some pics online and make a donation to the RNLI. There’s details on our Facebook page’.
