The City of Swansea Aquatics headed to West Wales Championships on Friday (Feb 11) in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

Over the weekend Swansea Aquatics swimmers put in a strong and resistant display bringing home 74 Golds, 60 Silvers and  54 Bronze.

Assistant Head Coach Sam Jones said, “It was a fantastic individual display by the club smashing into 2022.

We demonstrated as a club a depth of talent  picking up the haul of medals in the individual events and picking up 188 medals over the 3 day meet.

Swansea Aquatics picked up the most medals in the West Wales region and demonstrated its dominance.

Tiron Hughes grabbed a bronze medal in the 11-year-old girls 100 metre Backstroke.

The club now switches its focus to its home meet and the Arena League Final on 5th March in Cardiff where the team competes against some of the strongest teams in the United Kingdom.

Kaden Diouf picked up a bronze for the 200 metre backstroke in the 14-year-old age group.

The last time club competed in the event was March 2020 weeks before the first lockdown.

We [as a club] are excited to take our strongest team to Cardiff to go up against the best and keep a strong tradition of competing in the final.”

The club finished 2nd in 2020 just behind Cardiff.
