Swansea Aquatics swimmers take in best in country

THE City of Swansea Aquatics travelled to Aberavon Celtic Leisure Centre, Port Talbot on December 4th and 5th to compete at the Bridgend County Club Championships.

As a collective total, Swansea Aquatics brought home 20 Gold, 15 Silver and 24 Bronze medals over the two day meet. Assistant Head Coach Sam Jones said “A great display of excellent results from everyone, with us bringing home best visitor club at the competition. Jones went on to say “We showing a great level of technique and skills in our racing with a couple of competitions under our belt. We are looking forward to the next challenge for our younger guns in earlier 2022.”

Gold Medallist – 9 & Under Year Olds -Jegan Diouf (100m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 100 I.M.), 10-11-Year-Olds, Cora Leigh Coffey (100m Back, 50m Butterfly, 100m I.M.), Gwenan Griffiths (200m Breaststroke). 12-13-Year-Olds, Owen Twigger (50m Freestyle, 200m Breaststroke, 200 I.M.) &George Price (100m Backstroke, 400 I.M.). 16 & Over, Maximus Burkett (200m Freestyle, 400m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke, 200m breaststroke, 100m Butterfly)

Swansea Aquatics having finished off round 3 of this year’s Arena League team competition in Newport International village on 11th December after its suspension during Covid restrictions last year. The team consisting of 10 up to 21 years completed in a mix of individual swims & relays events over the 2-hour gala. Against stiff competition from some of the best clubs in the UK, Swansea swimmers swam outstanding to finish 5th place, with Mount Kelly winning the round. The gala will take place with finalist being called in early 2022 for finals in Cardiff International Pool March 2022
