BUDDING writers of all ages have been inspired to set down their thoughts about the strange days of lockdown in a new exhibition supported by the Fusion Swansea project.
Writers aged from 10 to over 80 have put pen to paper to create an anthology that’s now on show for visitors to enjoy on a post-lockdown visit to a coffee café in Sketty.
Fusion Swansea is a community organisation that’s been taking the opportunities during the pandemic to create new ways of sharing culture, arts and heritage online through virtual get-togethers, podcasts and blogs. Fusion is a project co-funded by Swansea Council’s Cultural Services and Welsh Government
Robert Francis-Davies, Cabinet Member for Investment, Regeneration and Tourism, said:
“During the lockdown, the Fusion Programme put a call out to local residents who had felt inspired to write something to help make sense of such strange days.
“The result of that call out is a piece of work called Unlocked, A Swansea Lockdown Anthology which contains stories and poetry from people from aged 10 to 80 plus.”
”It’s now been made available online through the Dylan Thomas Centre website. But it’s also gone on display at Square Peg Coffee in Sketty with writing and designs by the artist Simon Parton.
“It’s a really good way to enjoy a coffee with added story-telling for free.”
Apart from being on show at Square Peg Coffee, a free copy of the anthology can be downloaded here: http://www.dylanthomas.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Unlocked-Anthology.pdfOpens new window
