YOU May not have stayed up all night watching the progress of the US Elections but it has been full of twists and turns.

The latest results show Democrat Joe Biden leading 224 to Trump’s 213.

Donald Trump was buoyant in the early stages and latterly claiming victory although no such indicators had been presented.

He tweeted: WE ARE LOOKING REALLY GOOD ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. THANK YOU!

Trump went on to say later that the Republicans would mount a legal challenge should he lose.

President Donald Trump made a series of egregious false claims in his Election Night address at the White House falsely claiming he had already won re-election, that he had already won states that were actually still up in the air at the time, and that his opponents were perpetuating a fraud.

Trump said, “Millions and millions of people voted for us tonight, and a very sad group of people is trying to disenfranchise that group of people. And we won’t stand for it.”
He went on to say:  “We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election.”

A judge has ordered the United States Postal Service to sweep mail for delayed election votes.

Biden’s campaign rejected Trump’s false claims of victory and threats to fight to stop votes from being counted.

A spokesperson for Biden’s camp said: “The president’s statement tonight about trying to shut down the counting of duly cast ballots was outrageous, unprecedented, and incorrect,” Campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement. “It was outrageous because it is a naked effort to take away the democratic rights of American citizens.”

The spokesperson added, “We repeat what the Vice President said tonight: Donald Trump does not decide the outcome of this election. Joe Biden does not decide the outcome of this election. The American people decide the outcome of this election. And the democratic process must and will continue until its conclusion.”

Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are thought to be the critical states in deciding who wins and becomes the next President of the United States of America.

The US markets took a dive following the comments by Trump.

The economy and Covid-19 are believed to be the key issues forcing US citizens out to vote.

International election monitors have been monitoring the US Election for the first time in history.

The FBI have stated that the robocalls, intimidation and threats of violence are nothing unusual during the election.

Voter turnout has been high particularly in states where turn out was depressed during the last election.

A split in the Republican party was hoping for a decisive win for Biden to end ‘Trumpism’.

Voting has gone smoothly across the USA and observers have been happy with the process. The counting could continue up until November 10th. Ultimately the result of the election could be decided by lawyers and judges.
