Wales Coast Path to launch over 50 NEW coastal itineraries for 2020

IN 2020 the Wales Coast Path will launch over 50 new walking itineraries covering the entire 870-mile trail to help locals and visitors alike discover new and exciting ways to explore the Welsh coastline.

Designed by those who know and love the trail

These new routes, which will be launching throughout 2019 and 2020, have been specifically designed by a network of officers who spend their days managing and enjoying the path. They will aim to make the path available to all ages and abilities and will be grouped into specific themes.

The Wales Coast Path team have already rolled out a number of these new itineraries, with a series of short, family-friendly augmented reality (AR) walks having been unveiled in time for the school summer holidays. These were followed in autumn by a series of longer 3-day itineraries developed to provide flexibility whether you want to completely get off grid, test your fitness or are looking for a family weekend activity.

New itineraries already available to download include:

Manorbier to Pendine- Walk the 19-mile stretch from Manorbier to the historic golden sands of Pendine, taking in the rugged vistas of South Pembrokeshire, before entering the neighbouring county of Carmarthenshire with a route the whole family will enjoy.

Valley to Four Mile Bridge- Enjoy 25 miles of unique scenery in Anglesey walking along the beautiful coastline to Four Mile Bridge, on one of the most iconic sections of the Wales Coast Path.

Swansea to Rhossili – Discover the Gower like never before treading the award-winning white sands of Rhossili as you explore the area’s outstanding natural beauty along this 26-mile route.

Walking toward wellness in 2020

The next series of itineraries to be launched will all be centred on ‘mindfulness’. Launching early in early 2020, the ten new itineraries will be perfectly suited for those who want to focus on reconnecting with nature, family and themselves in the New Year.

Walking is the most accessible form of exercise allowing people to spend quality time outdoors at a fraction of the price of a new gym membership. The new itineraries aim to highlight the positive benefits of walking, with a selection of routes crafted to offer a range of walks for all abilities. From the perfect spots for reflection, exploring the coastline’s unique wildlife to swapping FaceTime for face time with the family.

Spring 2020 will see the unveiling of ten new ‘wow factor’ walk itineraries which showcase some of the most iconic coastal views in Wales followed by the launch of the path’s ‘culture and heritage’ walks in Autumn 2020. All the new itineraries will be downloadable for free from the Wales Coast Path website.
