West Wales women celebrate success with Chwarae Teg

WOMEN from across west Wales celebrated their success at a graduation event Wednesday night (June 11), picking up their Institute of Leadership and Management certificates and hearing from an inspirational former graduate of the programme.

Anna-Jayne Davies, a former Agile Nation 2 Career Development graduate undertook the ILM programme earlier this year and spoke to the new graduates about the boost it gave her career.

Since completing the programme Anna has been promoted to Cash Department Manager at Leekes and wanted to share the positive benefits and outcomes with others.

The ILM qualification achieved by the women forms part of Chwarae Teg’s Agile Nation 2 programme which is fully funded by the European Social Fund and Welsh Government.

The project is a unique and inspirational initiative which helps working women develop knowledge, confidence and skills for team leading or managerial roles. The dedicated team at Chwarae Teg provides expert coaching, mentoring and accredited training designed to empower women to reach their potential.

At the event, which took place at the Diplomat Hotel and Spa, Llanelli, Emma Richards, Women’s Programme Lead at Chwarae Teg, said:

“This event is a celebration of the women who have participated in the career development programme. We are hugely proud of their achievements as they have not only gained key leadership skills valued by employers but also developed the confidence and motivation to achieve and prosper in the workplace. Having Anna here really demonstrates that and she’s become a real role model for many.

“To date thousands of women have taken part in Wales and achieved pay rises totalling over £1.5million so I’d definitely urge other women to sign up for future programmes!”

Anna-Jayne, said: “It’s an honour to be able to speak to graduates and share my story. Chwarae Teg’s programme and ILM qualification really gave me the chance to grow as a person and gain newly developed confidence and leadership skills. I cannot put into words what I have taken from the programme. From Day 1 it helped me recognise what I do; how to promote myself and what I do. I basically realised my potential, gained confidence and completely changed my way of thinking. I became more methodical, learned how to communicate with management and my team and unlocked my ambition.”

Women interested in joining the programme should visit www.agilenation2.org.uk/for-women for further information and eligibility details.
