AT approximately 8:00 am yesterday morning, Monday( May 20) a fatal road traffic collision occurred on the B4181 Litchard Hill at its junction with Bryn Llidiard involving a white Mercedes E250 estate and an 88 year old male pedestrian.
The pedestrian was treated at the scene by paramedics for his injuries however was pronounced deceased at hospital.
Family members are currently being supported by specially trained Police officers.
South Wales Police is appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who may have seen the vehicle or pedestrian immediately prior to the collision to make contact on 101 quoting reference number 1900180400.
Police are also appealing for any dash cam images from vehicles travelling in the vicinity of junction 36 of the M4 at approximately 0800 today and for drivers to check their footage and contact Police should they have any footage of similar vehicles.
