Caerphilly’s Cabinet endorse rate relief for business scheme

CAERPHILLY’S Cabinet recently endorsed plans to roll out a new temporary business rate relief scheme, the ‘Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Rate Relief Scheme’ for the financial year 2021/22 as part of a financial package announced by the Welsh Government.

Unlike the recent grant schemes, businesses do not need to apply, the vast majority of ratepayers who are eligible will have automatically had this rate relief applied as a credit on their new 2021/22 bill, leaving nothing to pay until 1 April 2022.

The amended bills have been issued by the Council’s Business Rate Team to qualifying ratepayers occupying properties in the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors. If you think you may be eligible, please contact the team by emailing nndr@caerphilly.gov.uk

Cllr. Sean Morgan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economy and Enterprise, said:

“We are doing all that we can to issue the support to businesses as and when it becomes available, this has been a huge task over the past year creating brand new systems to support the new grant and relief funds, but it is vitally important that we continue to act fast and support the business community with every resource we have.”
