LLANELLI’s Member of the Senedd Lee Waters is hoping more people in the local community will join the growing number of people participating in the weekly Sandy Water ParkRun.
The event is held every Saturday at 9am and is a free, fun 5k community event. People can choose to walk, jog, run, volunteer, or spectate.
On average 133 people finish the course per week.
Lee Waters MS said:
“It is great to see the parkrun back again. At the last event attended I was a volunteer and over 140 people participated. It provides a real sense of community to have so many people keeping fit and making the most of our amazing coastline”
The local Member of the Senedd went on to say:
“It really is the perfect way to start the weekend. Surrounded by others all supporting each other through the event and sharing a coffee afterwards. I love how the parkrun is completely run by volunteers, its great to see others give up their time to make sure everyone else can relax and enjoy the challenge.”
Kevin Collins the co-event director said:
“It’s great to see parkrun return once again to Sandy Water Park and to see our volunteers and participants enjoying the Park and the Wales Coastal Path.
Parkrun aims to create a healthier and happier planet and is an inclusive event that is free for everyone to join.
Therefore, it gives everyone an opportunity to improve both their physical and mental well-being in a safe, outdoor environment with like minded people.”
