AN application to turn part of a former village chapel into a pet crematorium is due for debate next week.

Ceredigion County Council planning officers have recommended the change of use application for the Grade II listed Llawynadda Chapel in Llechryd.

The chapel, which has been vacant for 15 years, is in a poor state of repair a report to next week’s development control meeting.

The plan is to turn the former chapel to a pet crematorium and office with flue pipe for the incinerator, new ramp and doorway to the rear.

On Wednesday, May 8 the committee will hear that there is a “gap in the market within the area for such a service” and the applicant believes it is a “great opportunity to find a beneficial commercial use for this former chapel.”

The officer’s report adds: “The only area of concern is the proposed emissions from the proposed incinerator.” However, there have been no objections from environmental health.

The application is recommended for approval.
