Works to refurbish play park at Llandaff Fields to begin this month

Works to refurbish the play park at Llandaff Fields in Cardiff will begin with new slides and climbing ropes.

The current play equipment will stay open for most of the works, according to Cardiff council.

Earlier this year the parks departments asked local schools to suggest how the play area could be developed.

Drawings and ideas were submitted by pupils from Creigiau Primary School, Kitchener Primary School, Millbank Primary School, Severn Primary School, St Cuthbert’s Primary School, St David’s Primary School and St Monica’s Primary School.

The council will develop the central embankment in the play area into a new feature, making it higher and adding new rubber surfacing.

The refurbishment works also include three large new slides, climbing nets, climbing ropes, large stepping stones, as well as new benches, paths and other climbing play equipment.

Play equipment currently there will be kept, and the parks department is planning to review other parts of the play area in future.

Councillor Peter Bradbury, cabinet member for culture and leisure, said: “We have worked closely with children in schools across the city to make sure our refurbishment plans meet the needs of our communities, and we’re delighted to make these plans a reality.

“Children benefit so much from being able to meet outdoors and play together, so this new and improved play equipment will be a fantastic facility for local families to use.”
