Appeal for witnesses after woman receives black eye on train

Officers investigating an assault against a woman on a train travelling between Pontyclun and Llanharan are appealing for witnesses.

At around 9.15pm on Saturday 11 September, two women boarded the train at Cardiff Central station and sat at a table seat.

A group of people, consisting of three young men and one young woman, boarded the same service at Pontyclun and sat adjacent to the two women, also on a table seat.

It is reported that an object was thrown at the two women, hitting one on their nose. The victim got up from their seat to confront the group, and the young woman from the group became aggressive towards them.

An altercation took place which resulted in the victim regaining consciousness at Llanharan with a black eye and bloody face.

They all alighted the train at Llanharan station and the victim and suspects separated and left the station.

The young woman suspect is described as white, with curly hair and of a slim build. She was wearing dark clothing.

The young man suspect was described as white with short light brown hair. He had a black eye at the time of the incident and was wearing dark clothing, with a sling on one arm.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to assist their enquiries.
