Bomb Squad called to New Dock Road property following ‘alleged’ texted threats

A 49-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with ‘alleged’ threats by text, which resulted in the bomb squad attending a property in New Dock Road on Thursday (Apr 4).

In a statement issued today Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of harassment at around 11.40pm on Thursday, April 4.

“Due to threats being made over text message, police attended an address at New Dock Road, Llanelli, and conducted a search of the property. Unknown substances were found, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was asked to attend as a precaution.

“Timothy Jones, aged 49, of New Dock Road, was arrested and charged with harassment – put in fear of violence – and conveyed to Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.”

The court heard that between Between the 03/04/2019 and the 05/04/2019 at Llanelli, Jones of Flat 1, 7 New Dock Road caused his victim to fear that violence would be used against them by his course of conduct which he knew or ought to have known would cause fear of violence to them on each occasion, in that he sent them threatening text messages and attended at their home address unannounced.

Jones was remanded in custody until 10/04/2019.
