Coming up in the next few weeks stories will include Fox’s Socks by Julia Donaldson and Alun a’r Arth ar y Mȏr by Morgan Tomos as well as some other favourites like Goodnight to the sleepy animals by Ian Whybrow.
Carmarthenshire County Council Leader, Cllr Emlyn Dole said: “Whilst children are off school and staying at home it is important that they continue to read. These storytime sessions with our libraries are fun, exciting and help to keep young minds active and inspired during lockdown. With a wide range of online stories available, families and children can continue to enjoy reading from the comfort of their own home whilst libraries are closed.”
A range of free online resources are available on the libraries website including Ziptales which aims to encourage children to read through fun, interactive puzzles, stories and games. It is already being used in schools and offers practical activities in a safe online learning environment for children.
Relaxed joining procedures are in place in response to coronavirus so it has never been easier to join your local library and enjoy the list of free resources available online www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/libraries
Libraries work closely with schools to support children’s education by providing appropriate books to suit the school’s needs.
