Dyfed-Powys Police Announced Employer Partner of the Year by Gower College Swansea

ON Friday 2 July 2021, Gower College Swansea held their Annual Student Awards 2021 and named Dyfed-Powys Police Employer Partner of the Year.

The event, that was held virtually, recognised new, emerging talent, with winners showcasing dedication and commitment in a whole host of apprenticeships across an array of industries.

Gower College Swansea, who work with over 1,000 employers across England and Wales, also celebrated employers who have shown commitment to developing their people.

Director for Skills and Business Development, Paul Kift said: “A huge congratulations to Dyfed-Powys Police, Gower College’s Employer Partner of the Year.

“Their efforts to support their staff and upskill their staff have been recognised this year when they were nominated in the Large Employer of the Year Category at the Apprenticeship Awards Cymru.”

Gower College’s event celebrated Apprenticeship Week Wales, and followed the Welsh Government’s Apprenticeship Awards Cymru, where Dyfed-Powys Police were named runners-up for the Large Employer of the Year award – the first police service to ever be nominated!

Mr Kift added, “Not only does this demonstrate that they are a great employer, but it also highlights that they share our commitment to developing talent at all levels across an organisation. Dyfed-Powys Police is a fantastic organisation, they are an excellent partner and this award is richly deserved.”

Superintendent Ross Evans, Head of Learning and Development, Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are delighted to receive this award and we are very proud of the partnership we have built with Gower College over many years.

“To have so many staff accessing courses and developing their skills is hugely rewarding for the individuals and the organisation.

“I would like to acknowledge the contribution of PC Angela Williams who has driven Dyfed-Powys Police’s apprenticeship portfolio. To have over 200 staff involved with some form of apprenticeship training is representative of over 10% of our workforce. This number is rising each year, which is testament to the drive and commitment of PC Williams’, together with the excellent partnership we have developed with Gower College”.
