INSPIRED by a story very much embedded in Llanelli’s metal works history and culture, artist Peter Spriggs will be exhibiting his latest collection, entitled ‘Tales Of Sosban Fach’ at Oriel Ffwrnes Theatre, Llanelli from 6 February.
Inspired in part by a piece of slag found washed up on North Beach, Llanelli; Peter’s artwork is embedded with this image and the tale of a relative, who in the 1940s, having survived war, came back to work at what was then the Bynea Furnace, only to be killed by a 40ft tongue of flame – a really famous and shocking tragic story at the time.
Peter Spriggs is one of a kind, an artist who continues to celebrate the marks people make on the world and respect their endeavours. Exhibiting work widely and regularly with ARCIPELAGO (a pop-up collective of artists exhibiting and selling work), he is also a member of the much-respected 56 Group.
Peter’s work will be exhibiting at Oriel Ffwrnes Gallery, Ffwrnes Theatre, Park Street, Llanelli SA15 3YE throughout February and early March.
