HYWEL Dda Health Charities would like to thank the communities of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire for the good will that local people showed towards their Give a Gift Appeal.

Last November they launched their Give a Gift appeal promoting the donation of gifts to brighten the lives of children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

Items included LED wheel lights to brighten up a wheelchair and really make it stand-out; salt lamps which encourage relaxation and good sleep, as well as colouring books which provide distraction and relaxation during hospital visits and treatment.

Over 120 gifts were received along with proceeds from our Christmas cards, Hywel Dda Christmas jumper day and donations from local community groups.

Dawn Thomas, Paediatric Palliative Care Play Specialist said “Thank you so much to everyone who purchased the amazing gifts we received for the children and young people over the Christmas period from the Give a Gift Appeal. The families were delighted and it brought so much joy to the staff giving the gifts, as well as the children and young people receiving them. The difference the appeal has made has been phenomenal – thank you.
