Lee Waters AM praises local action engaging young people with sport

Following a visit to Keri McKibbin Personal Training Gym in Burry Port, local Assembly Member Lee Waters has praised the work being done there to support local young people make healthier choices.

Keri McKibbin has entered into a partnership with the local Co-op, working with the manager Nathan Evans to provide free fruit at all children’s sessions run at the gym – encouraging healthy eating and participation in sport in the community. The award winning gym is offering classes for children young people at least two times a week, alongside its regular programme of adult classes. In 2017, the gym was recognised for its success in helping people overcome illness, injury and other obstacles to take up sport – now Keri wants to see more young people involved in sport.

Lee Waters AM said “It’s always a pleasure to visit Keri and see the amazing work he’s doing to support our community.

“I’ve been impressed by his energy and drive to boost people’s confidence, health and happiness over the years. His enthusiasm is infectious and it’s great to see him taking initiative for the community, supporting young people in Burry Port to make healthier choices. The local Co-op deserve praise for working with him too.”

Keri McKibbin said “I’d like to thank Lee for coming down and showing his support. Everyone was thrilled.

“Our kids classes are going from strength to strength because we give them big support and encouragement every session. I want to give special thanks to our coaches Jamie Hawkins and Lee Stone who provide great coaching and leadership, and of course Nathan at the Co-op for coming on board.”
