PLAID CYMRU’s Education Spokesperson Sian Gwenllian has called for greater clarity from the Welsh Government on the criteria that will be used to decide how and when schools in Wales will open.
“There is much confusion about when schools will re-open and the First Minister’s interview on the Andrew Marr show added to the confusion. There is an urgent need for clarity – for the sake of pupils, for parents and for staff – about the steps that must be taken and the criteria that must be met before schools can resume.
“School surely cannot open until it is safe and we have got on top of testing and tracing the virus. We are a long way from that scenario as things stand.
“It is vital that we gain the confidence of staff and pupils before there is any serious talk of schools reopening.”
