Police appeal for witnesses to fatal road traffic collision on A4233 Trebanog Road

SOUTH WALES Police is appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at around 5:56am this morning, Wednesday 6th May 2020, on the A4233 Trebanog Road at its junction with Rhiwgarn and Brooks Terrace.

A Black Triumph Bonneville motorcycle ridden by a 61-year-old male carrying a 25-year-old male passenger was in collision with a blue Dacia Sandero at the junction. As a result of the collision, the rider of the motorcycle was taken to hospital but sadly passed away. The passenger was also taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Dacia vehicle was unhurt.

The rider’s next of kin has been informed and a specially trained police officer has been deployed to support the deceased family.

South Wales Police is appealing for any witnesses to contact them. Officers would like to speak to any person who witnessed the collision, who stopped to provide assistance, or anyone who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision and who have not yet given their details.

The road remained closed for approximately 5½ hours whilst police carried out initial investigations and recovered the vehicles. South Wales Police would like to thank the people affected by the closure for their patience and understanding.
