SOUTH Wales Police have confirm the sad passing of Luke Williams, 26, who was critically ill in hospital since being involved in an incident which occurred on Monday, December 16, 2019.
He was pronounced deceased on Thursday evening (December 19) at Prince Charles Hospital.
His family have said:
“We are devastated by the loss of Luke and ask for privacy at this time while we come to terms with what has happened.”
The South Wales Police Major Crime team is now liaising with his family, the Crown Prosecution Service and HM Coroner in respect of Luke’s death.
Andrew John Davies, 52, of Aberaman, has been charged with causing Grievous Bodily Harm and was remanded into custody at Merthyr Magistrates Court on Friday (December 20).
Detective Inspector Stuart Wales, from the South Wales Police Major Crime Investigation Team, said:
“Luke’s family continue to be supported by specialist Family Liaison Officers at this difficult time.
“I can confirm this is now a murder investigation – I hope that the wider community feels reassured that we have charged a man and are not currently looking for anybody else in connection with it.
“Our investigation continues and we are still very keen to speak to anyone with information, or anyone who witnessed what happened Monday night, if they haven’t yet spoken to officers.”
