Three arrested in Cathays murder inquiry

Two men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the murder of Fahad Mohamed Nur near Cathays Railway Station.

The men, aged 24 and 22, from Cardiff, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and a 34-year-old woman from Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The younger male and the woman were arrested at Heathrow Airport early this morning and arrangements are being made to bring them back to Cardiff for questioning.

Fahad’s family have been updated and continue to be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.

South Wales Police thanks the community for the support and information that has already been provided.

Detectives are still appealing for witnesses, particularly in relation to two men seen on CCTV in Park Place, near Cathays Railway Station and Cardiff Students Union.

Officers were called to the lane which links Park Place to Corbett Road at approximately 00:24hrs on Sunday, June 2 following reports that a man had been stabbed.

Fahad, 18, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where he died from his injuries.

CCTV footage shows two men leaving the lane adjacent to Cathays Railway Station and then running across Park Place in the general direction of the city centre.

A distinctive baseball cap, believed to have been worn by one of the suspects, was found on Park Place near to the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff.
