Victim of fatal Port Talbot road traffic collision named as 60-year-old Paul Watkins

The 60-year-old man who died following a road traffic collision which happened shortly before 4.45 pm on Friday October 1st in Port Talbot has been named as Paul Watkins from Sandfields.

Pauls family have paid the following tribute following their tragic loss:

“Paul “Walter” Watkins was a devoted family man and leaves behind his partner Suzanne Rose, his children Rebecca, Robert, Olivia and Ava, his parents Heather and Dennis, his brother Garry and sister Karen, his 3 grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.

“He was a much loved and respected motorcycle mechanic, and lifelong keen motorcyclist.

“He was a loyal and trusted employee of Mount Motorcycles where he worked for several years.

“Paul was 60 years old and born in Neath, he was bought up in the Skewen area where he was well known. Paul moved to the Sandfields area where he lived with his partner and two children.

“He has been described by friends as being inspirational and a legend, he was the best bike mechanic and friend you could ever wish for.

“He will forever be in our hearts and will never be forgotten. There are no words to describe the loss our family are currently feeling and dealing with.”

South Wales Police is continuing to investigate the collision which occurred between the Afan Way and Baglan Energy Park roundabouts on the A4241 Port Talbot.

The road was closed for several hours following the incident and the public is thanks for its patience during this time.

Officers investigating the collision are appealing to any witness who has yet to come forward or anyone who has any dash-cam footage of the collision to contact South Wales Police quoting reference: 2100345582.
