PUPILS arrived at an Aberystwyth secondary school today (Wednesday, March 18) to find it was closed for cleaning due to coronavirus fears.
Ysgol Penweddig, Llanbadarn Fawr, has told parents that the school has been closed to for”additional cleaning” after a staff member developed coronavirus symptoms.
It will reopen on Thursday morning (March 19).
The school tweeted at 9.20am: “As a precautionary measure it has been decided to close Penweddig School today to carry out additional cleaning. This comes following a member of staff developing Coronavirus symptoms. The school will reopen tomorrow morning.”
An email has also been sent to parents, with some reporting online that children arrived at school only to be told to return to their buses to be taken home.
The county council’s website states that Ysgol T Llew Jones in Brynhoffnant is closed today and tomorrow, (March 18 and 19).
Symptoms include a high temperature and a new, continuous cough.
