A COUNCIL is looking to gain permission to sell alcohol and host events at a restored medieval village near Penarth.
The tourism and events department of the Vale of Glamorgan Council has applied for a premises licence to sell alcohol at Cosmeston Medieval Village.
If approved, the licence would also allow street entertainment, recorded music, live music, performances of dance and plays at the site – a reconstruction of the original medieval village which dates back to the 14th century.
It is also proposed that licensable activities should be allowed to take place between 11am and 11pm every day of the week.
Work to restore the village of Cosmeston began after a development of Cosmeston Lakes Country Park in 1978 uncovered the remains of the former medieval settlement.
The village, set in the year 1350, acts as a living museum and offers visitors a glimpse into 14th century life.
Members of the public have until Monday, September 19, to make their views on the proposal heard.
