HOTELS, guest houses and self-catering outlets in Carmarthenshire have come together to provide emergency accommodation for front line workers.
The Diplomat Hotel in Llanelli and The Ivy Bush Royal in Carmarthen have already opened their doors to key workers including doctors, nurses and domiciliary care in response to coronavirus.
Other accommodation providers who have come on board include Carmarthen’s Llety Cynin in St Clears, Boar’s Head and Drover’s Arms in Carmarthen, Gwesty Emlyn in Newcastle Emlyn, Ty Mawr Country Hotel in Brechfa, Plough Inn and Cawdor Hotel in Llandeilo, Vista Hotel in Llanelli and Brown’s Hotel in Laugharne. Guest houses and self-catering outlets have also offered their services.
Carmarthenshire County Council Leader, Cllr Emlyn Dole, said: “I am overwhelmed with the number of businesses that have already come forward and offered to open up their premises and provide emergency accommodation for staff working in critical care services. This will allow emergency workers to continue to work and provide critical care in our hospitals and communities should someone they live with show symptoms of the coronavirus. It will also allow medics who are working extra shifts and needed in emergencies to be nearer the hospitals. Already quite a few have been in touch with us, with some already providing accommodation, but should the demand for places like this increase we want to ensure we have as many options available to us as possible.”
