CEREDIGION County Council is aiming towards the re-opening of its facilities at Cardigan Leisure Centre, Lampeter Swimming Pool and Plascrug Leisure Centre in the autumn.

A statement from Ceredigion County Council:

As a Council, we recognise the difficulties we have faced with respect to the leisure and pool closures across the county, and have been met with unforeseen challenges at both Plascrug and Lampeter Swimming Pools. Residents are reassured that we are working to rectify these as soon as possible in order to once again provide our full range of facilities for the public.

Both Lampeter and Plascrug Swimming Pools have had New Air Handling Units installed which will ensure that both pools will be able to operate safely. Further work is to be undertaken at Plascrug Leisure Centre, specifically to the Squash Courts which are being re-plastered and the sports hall where a new floor will be laid.

The decommissioning work will also start on Cardigan Leisure Centre, when the facility has officially been returned from Hywel Dda University Health Board following its use as a Mass Vaccination Centre.

The works identified are essential in ensuring that the facilities can re-open safely for both customers and staff. The investment by the Council to ensure the facilities re-open demonstrates the importance that we place on our resident’s physical wellbeing. We also believe that the works will contribute to an improved customer experience when visiting our facilities in the future.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this difficult time and will continue to provide updates on the progress made at all facilities via the Council and Ceredigion Actif’s social media pages.
